Press Release

Nippon Oil Corporation (President: Shinji Nishio) has announced publication of "CSR Report 2008," which introduces the Nippon Oil Group's corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities for the period from April 2007 through March 2008. The report can be found at http://www.eneos.co.jp/english/company/current_csr_report/.

This latest CSR report focuses on three themes of material importance that we believe are of great interest to stakeholders and is designed to aid general understanding of the Group's activities in these fields. The report looks at the following three themes, taking into consideration the opinions of stakeholders and the Fourth Medium-Term Management Plan launched at the beginning of fiscal 2008.

(1) Protecting the Global Environment
Discusses the Group's CO2 reduction measures to prevent global warming.

(2) Maintaining High Ethical Standards.
Spotlights "Business Ethics Café" business ethics training courses for ensuring high ethical standards, which are part of the Nippon Oil Group philosophy.

(3) Ensuring Safety at Refineries
Introduces initiatives to eliminate trouble at refineries, which are being led by the Refinery Project Office.
