It is a large-scale integrated refinery that produces a wide range of products, from petroleum fuels to petrochemical products such as paraxylene, and plays a central role in the Kashima Industrial Complex. The refinery also operates and manages the aromatics production facilities owned by Kashima Aromatics Co., Ltd., which are installed within the refinery, and carries out integrated operations with them. It is also engaged in the power generation business utilizing the No. 3 power generation facility, using pitch—the de-asphalted residue extracted from the solvent de-asphalting unit—as fuel.

As a core group company of ENEOS Corporation, Kashima Oil Co., Ltd. plays the role of a key refinery within the group under an efficient operating structure based on integrated operations with the company.
The Kashima Refinery is located within the Kashima Industrial Complex facing Kashimanada in Ibaraki Prefecture. It produces general and industrial fuels such as gasoline, kerosene, and diesel fuel, as well as petrochemical products, which are shipped both within Japan and overseas, and also provides a stable supply of products for the industrial complex, including naphtha and C heavy oil.
In 2008, the refinery began commercial operation of a large-scale aromatics production facility that produces benzene and paraxylene used as raw materials for synthetic fibers and synthetic resins. It operates as one of Japan’s leading integrated refineries, undertaking initiatives to strengthen competitiveness through collaboration with various companies within the industrial complex.
