The Sendai Refinery started operations in July 1971 with hopes that it would contribute to the economic development of the region. As the only refinery in the Tohoku region, it currently plays a central role in providing a stable energy supply in the region through the production of various high-quality petroleum products.
After the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011, it was forced to cease operations temporarily due flooding across the entire site. However, after efforts to restore production, it was able to restart operations in March 2012 and has continued to this day.

Greetings from the ENEOS Sendai Refinery.
Having started operations in July 1971, we are committed to providing a stable energy supply in the Tohoku region, where we are the only refinery.
Despite being forced to temporarily cease operations due to a tsunami triggered by the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011, we were able to restart production one year later with the support of the local community.
We prioritize safety, compliance, and coexistence with local communities in refinery operations, while working as one to improve the international competitiveness of our refinery and continue contributing to the development of the Tohoku region.
Through community-based social contribution activities, we will continue to make every effort to work alongside and become a trusted partner to the local community.
