Wakayama Plant
A Future Environmental Supply Base and GX Model Site Focused on the Realization of a Carbon-Neutral Society

The Wakayama Plant, which began operations in 1941, produced petroleum products for many years, but in November 2023, as part of the rising tide of decarbonization, it was transformed into a manufacturing site for new forms of energy such as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) (production of SAF is scheduled to begin in or after FY2028). The plant will consider further new businesses, in addition to SAF, and will contribute to the local economy and the realization of a carbon-neutral society.
Message from the Plant Manager

Greetings from the Wakayama Plant.
We began as the Toa Nenryo Kogyo K.K. Wakayama Plant in 1939, and were renamed the ENEOS Corporation Wakayama Refinery in 2020. For many years, we have been helping support Japan’s energy and economy.
As part of the tide of decarbonization, in October 2023 we shut down our oil refining operations, and in November, we set out anew to become a manufacturer of new forms of energy such as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Our plant is located in a beautiful city, surrounded by Arita Mikan mandarin orange orchards and bountiful fishing grounds, and we are busily making preparations to begin supplying eco-friendly energy as a model green transformation (GX) site.
In our operations, we place the highest priority on safety and on legal and regulatory compliance. We strive to enrich the local community and advance environmental conservation.
We also actively carry out social contribution activities and engage with the community, becoming a plant that is both trusted and loved. The Wakayama Plant looks forward to your continued support into the future.
