Risk Management
ENEOS believes that developing work environments that ensure the psychological safety of employees, and promoting flexible work styles in line with employee work-life balance, are the foundations for achieving health and productivity management.
Based on the idea that developing healthy work environments and realizing appropriate work styles create the foundation for preventing and managing lifestyle-related diseases and mental health, we are focusing our efforts on support measures that enable each employee to maximize their abilities and measures for reducing risks to the physical and mental health of employees.
Lifestyle-Related Disease Prevention
ENEOS not only maintains 100% participation of employees in regular health checkups as a disease prevention measure, but also actively encourages employees with findings from those checkups to undergo additional examinations to improve the secondary examination rate (with the ultimate goal of 100% participation).
To increase understanding of their own health among younger workers, we also actively provide health guidance from healthcare professionals to employees under the age of 40 with findings from checkups.
We strive to improve the lifestyles of our employees through a range of investments in health, including support for lifestyle-related disease prevention (provision of collaborative health services and use of health apps), development of programs and environments to help employees to quit smoking, and establishment of an external consultation desk.
Mental Health Prevention
In accordance with Japan's Industrial Safety and Health Act, ENEOS makes effective use of a stress check system to help prevent mental health issues.
The system improves employee awareness of stress. For individual follow-up for those facing high levels of stress, we offer sessions with industrial physicians and counseling with external counselors*.
Although over 90% of employees undergo stress checks every year, we are implementing measures to increase the rate to 100%.
- *Counseling by external counselors is available to all employees.
Health Hazard Prevention for Employees Traveling and Working Overseas
ENEOS strives to provide vaccinations for epidemics and infectious diseases, and develop medical support systems, for employees posted or traveling overseas.
To prevent illness in employees traveling and working overseas, we actively implement measures such as vaccinations for employees traveling to certain destinations as recommended on the website of Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare's Quarantine Information Office.
In addition, we stockpile supplies at our overseas sites, just like at our sites in Japan, as a safety measure against the spread of infectious diseases.
Industrial Hygiene at Refineries and Other Production Sites
To prevent health hazards to workers at refineries and other production sites, we train industrial hygienists for each site and carry out industrial hygiene activities.
We also hold a National Health Staff Conference once a year as an opportunity to share information and roll out best practices with the aim of deepening ties between healthcare professionals at production sites.
In addition, the labor unions confirm our efforts to provide and maintain the equipment needed to ensure the health and safety of labor union members.
