Commitment to Diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I)

The top management of ENEOS Holdings has declared its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I).

We position Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) at the core of our Group People Strategy. We aim for a workplace where every diverse employee can be their authentic self, work confidently and proudly, maximize their performance, and contribute to creating new corporate value.
To achieve this, management will take leadership to cultivate an inclusive workplace climate where individuality can thrive and develop organizational structures that leverage diversity.

Based on this belief, we promote DE&I, led by the following Basic Policy.

Basic Policy

  • In accordance with the Group Code of Conduct, we shall not infringe on human rights through our business activities. We respect internationally-accepted human rights standards and diversity, acknowledging differences pertaining to gender, age, nationality, race, ethnicity, skin color, culture, thought, religion, belief, political opinions, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and the presence or absence of disability. We shall not engage in any type of discrimination or harassment.
  • We aim to enable all employees to maximize their talents by fostering a corporate culture where each and every employee fully understands the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion; values diverse ways of thinking and ideas; respects each other; and grows together.
  • Through the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion, we aim to promptly and accurately meet the ever-changing needs of customers and society and create new social value. We will continue to contribute to the realization of a society in which all stakeholders can actively participate by promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in our company, in Japan, and overseas.

How we define diversity, equity & inclusion

Diversity

Diversity consists of all employees accepting and respecting the differences between them, both surface level differences (such as age, gender, and nationality) and deeper differences (values, experience, abilities, skills, etc.) and working together.

Equity

Equity consists of fairly providing the resources and opportunities that each of the company’s diverse employees need to achieve autonomous growth and encourage taking on new challenges, fairly evaluating the fruits of their work, and fairly compensating them.

Inclusion

Inclusion consists of maximizing the output of individuals and organizations by having all employees be true to themselves and tap each other’s strengths.

DE&I Awards

1. Eruboshi

The Eruboshi Certification system, based on the Act on Promotion of Women's Participation and Advancement in the Workplace, is a system in which companies which meet certain standards and which have achieved exceptional progress in promoting women's participation are recognized by the Minister of Health, Labour, and Welfare. There are five standards (recruitment, continued employment, work styles including working hours, management ratio, and diversified career courses), and companies are evaluated based on how many of these standards they have met. ENEOS has been found to meet all five of the standards and has received the Level 3 Eruboshi certification, the highest of all Eruboshi levels.

2. Kurumin

In accordance with the Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising the Next Generation of Children, which was formulated in 2005, we have created action plans for balancing work and parenting and improved systems related to this.
As a result of our efforts, the Minister of Health, Labour, and Welfare has recognized us as a company that is implementing measures to support raising the next generation of children and has permitted us to use the Next Generation Certification Mark (Kurumin Mark).

3. PRIDE Index Gold (work with Pride)

For five consecutive years, starting in FY2020, ENEOS has received the highest rating of "Gold" in the PRIDE Index, created by work with Pride to promote and establish diversity management related to sexual minorities. The PRIDE Index is an evaluation index for initiatives related to sexual minorities, such as members of the LGBTQ community. ENEOS was highly evaluated for its ENEOS Group Code of Conduct, ENEOS Basic Personnel Policy, and initiatives such as awareness-raising activities conducted during various training activities.

4. Nadeshiko Brand

Since FY2012, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Stock Exchange have been jointly selecting companies which emphasize the improvement of corporate value over the medium and long term and which are outstanding in terms of encouraging women's empowerment in the workplace. They designate these companies as "Nadeshiko Brands". By drawing investor attention to measures for encouraging women’s empowerment, this system aims to accelerate such efforts in companies.
In FY2020, ENEOS Holdings, Inc. and ENEOS Corporation were selected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as companies that were outstanding in terms of encouraging women's empowerment in the workplace.
