Taking the lead for “tomorrow's normal”
with technology

The Central Technical Research Laboratory supports “today’s normal” by conducting research for the stable supply of energy and materials. We are also engaged in technological development to take the lead for “tomorrow’s normal” and bring these technologies into practical use in society. These R&D efforts include synthetic fuels, biofuels, and Direct MCH®, a technology that converts renewable energy into hydrogen carriers suitable for storage and transport.

Driving demonstration of Vehicles Running on Synthetic Fuels at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan

We are taking on the challenge of conducting driving demonstrations using synthetic fuels at the Expo to communicate that synthetic fuels are a key option for achieving carbon-neutral mobility.
Completion of a synthetic fuels demonstration plant in the Laboratory!

By operating Japan’s first demonstration plant capable of integrated manufacturing from raw materials, we aim to establish a synthetic fuel production process and bring synthetic fuels into practical use as soon as possible.
Renewal of Central Technical Research Laboratory

We are constructing a new research building on the premises of the Central Technical Research Laboratory based on the concept of “bringing people together to create new value through the fusion of their knowledge.”
