Laboratory automation

To meet the demand for high-speed and accurate testing/analysis of a wide array and large volume of R&D products, ENEOS is promoting laboratory automation using LIMS* and robot digitalization technology (DX).

Unified data management

To uniformly manage information related to research managed in a distributed manner in separate files and systems, we are introducing LIMS to simplify data searching and linking and enable online operations. We are also constructing a test-request and reporting system linked to LIMS to speed up test requesting and reporting and raising efficiency through the automatic transport of data from analysis devices all with the aim of accelerating the research and development cycle.

Automated testing using robots

Although packages that can automatically perform a single test against similar samples using robots already exist, there is a need at ENEOS to handle samples with a wide range of viscosities from diesel fuel to lubricating oil. ENEOS R&D has developed a system** that can subdivide and accurately weigh even samples widely different in viscosity. By combining multi-jointed robots and LIMS, we have achieved laboratory automation that can automatically perform a series of tests measuring density and kinematic viscosity, performing titration, and analyzing constituent elements.
